Welsh golfing legend and former Masters Champion, Ian Woosnam will be launching the Ryder Cup Fanzone in Newport, Wales on Friday 1st October.
Woosnam who has played in eight Ryder Cups as a player and captained the European Team that won by a score of 18.5 points to 9.5 points at The K Club in Ireland in 2006, will join the Newport Council leader in a round of crazy golf to open the event.
The opening of the Fanzone will coincide with the first morning of the 37th Ryder Cup, which is being held close by at Celtic Manor Resort and Golf Course. The Fanzone will be a place where both residents and visiting golfing fans can experience the atmosphere and emotion of the event by watching the matches on a specially erected big screen.
Woosnam, who is currently sponsored by Forgan of St Andrews, said " Fanzone will help to capture the spirit of the Ryder Cup by engaging people of all different ages and backgrounds. It’s a time for friends and family to come together, have a good time and most of all to enjoy the spectacle as Newport plays host to one of the most prestigious events in world sport”.
