Englishman George Ryall has won the inaugural Van Lanschot Senior Open at the Royal Haagsche Golf and Country Club, The Hague, Netherlands
It is his first Senior Tour Victory and means he is the first non-exempt winner on the Senior Tour in four years.
Ryall, who only got a place in the tournament after tying fifth in last week’s Bad Ragaz PGA Seniors Open, finished one shot ahead of Scotland’s Andrew Oldcorn, the 2001 PGA Championship winner.
His win earns him both a two year exemption on the Senior Tour and a place in next week’s Senior Open at Carnoustie
"I get two years exemption now and I don’t have to pre-qualify for The Senior Open so it opens up so many doors for me. I’d been sending letters to sponsors all year trying to tell them I was quite good and now they might realise I’m not that bad!"he said afterwoods
Ryall becomes the seventh player this year to become a first time winner on the Senior Tour. Forgan Sponsored D.J Russell was also a first time winner at the PGA Seniors Championships last month
Russell playing with his Forgan forged irons finished tied 12th on Sunday at 2 under with Barry Lane and David Merriman.
Former Ryder Cup Captain and Forgan Sponsored Ian Woosman finished tied 48th
