Graeme McDowell has won his fifth European Tour Title at the Celtic Manor Wales Open.
The tournament was held on the course that will be used for the Ryder Cup in October this year and the win certainly puts McDowell in serious contention for a place on the European Ryder Cup Team, as well as earring him a paycheck of 350, 940 Euros.
Four behind at the start of the day, the Northern Irishman soon became the leader after the overnight leader Marcel Siem quadrupled bogeyed the fourth.
McDowell had eight birdies in the first 11 holes, to gain a 3 shot lead over Rhys Davies, with the last seven holes in par. He finished on 63 for 15 under par 269
"I think it's the best final round I've ever played to win a tournament," he said. "The first 11 holes was dream golf and I am ecstatic. I feel like I'm in the form of my life right now and I really feel I have a big event in me.
Welshman Davies did give McDowell a run for his money, with a course record of 62 where he played the middle 12 holes in ten under par.
Third place went to Luke Donald, with shared fourth place to Robert Rock and Edoardo Molinari.
