With just three months to go before the Ryder Cup takes place in Wales, nine Ryder Cup Captains both past and present will meet at the Senior Open Golf Championship at Carnoustie.
Corey Pavin, the US Captain will be the first presiding Captain to ever play in the Tournament. He will be joined by former US captains, Tom Kite, Tom Lehman and Tom Watson, who won his first Open Championship at this course.
Tom Lehman will be one of four assistant captains in Wales.
The last five European captains, Nick Faldo, Mark James, Bernard Langer, Sam Torence and Forgan sponsored golfer Ian Woosnam will also be competing.
Mark Calcavecchia who has played in the Ryder Cup will make his first appearance on the Senior European Tour after turning 50 this month.
The Senior Open was first held in 1987 and became part of the European Seniors Tour schedule in 1992. The prize money won counts towards both the Champions Tour and European Senior tour.
This year’s prize fund is worth two million dollars
The winner also gains entry into the following years Open Championship.
The tournament will be held the week after the Open, which is also being staged in Scotland from the 22nd to the 25th July.
