Australian Marcus Fraser has won the Ballentines Championship on Jeju Island, South Korea.
Due to adverse weather conditions, the golf tournament had to be reduced to three rounds after six hours of the first days play were lost. Fraser was one of only 36 golfers to complete the opening rounds on Thursday
Fraser 31 won the tournament by 4 strokes. It is his first European Tour victory for seven years, when he won the Russian Open. Over the following years he won only a few top ten victories and had a particularly disastrous 2009 season, after which he considered withdrawing from the game of golf
It's unbelievable. I don't know how I did that today, it's really blown me away," said Fraser,
"I've had so many chances to win in the last seven years that I just didn't know if it would ever be my day, but today it was," he added
The second win is harder than the first one; it has just been so long. I have had so many chances to win over the last seven years and I haven’t done it so to go out there and play how I did this week is a big lift.
Second place was shared by Northern Irelands Gareth Maybin and Australian Brett Rumford who both finished on 71.
The defending champion of the last year’s tournament Thongchai Jadee finished ninth with Ernie Els, Tano Goya, Mildco Ilonen and Nicholas Fasth.
